Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum

This weekend we headed into Alabama to visit the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum near Birmingham. The museum has an insane amount of motorcycles and racecars.

They were also hosting the annual Vintage Festival with a ton of new bikes on display and available for demos. Chris even found the latest version of the Suzuki he owned in California.

The best part was the vintage bike racing. There were places to watch outside of the museum but the best spots were definitely the observation decks attached to the museum. There was also a little path you could take to get right up next to the track.

This was the first time I had seen sidecar racing and it blew my mind. The rider in the sidecar leans way out around the curves and then ducks behind the driver on straightaways.

Not something I’ll be trying anytime soon, but I did find a sidecar in the museum that was more my speed.

Definitely worth a trip if you love motorcycles and an impressive place even if you know nothing like me!
