Dollywood

This past weekend we headed up to Pigeon Forge to visit Dollywood. It was everything that I dreamed of and more. There was the Dolly museum all about her life, exhibits with her clothing and shoes, and really fun roller coasters. We went on the Wild Eagle twice! It was so, so fun.

There were some pretty incredible animatronic dinosaurs at the gift shop next to our hotel too.

We also did Dolly Parton’s Stampede dinner show and the horsemanship was incredible. It started off with bison too and there was a piglet race and a chicken chase. Something for everyone!

The next day we headed through Gatlinburg and into the Smoky Mountain National Forest. We did a little hike down to Baskin Falls and had a chance to see a farm and cemetery that have been preserved.

We finished up the weekend with a drive through the Tail of the Dragon on US 129 down to Deals Gap. Chris did this ride with his brother in the glory days when he owned a motorcycle. Not quite as exciting in the RAV4, but still a lot of fun to see the bikes, hotrods and beautiful views!

Such a fun Labor Day weekend but we’ve both agreed no more national parks over holiday weekends. It was a mad house!

  1. Hi Guys,

Finally catching up on emails. Looked like a Hoot. Are you a Dolly fan, Vanessa? The family across the street went there last summer. They have young kids ( 8, 11 and 14) and said that if they lived there they would already be grandparents. LOL. Also so you did some rock climbing?
