Today we did an awesome hike up to No Name Lake at the base of Broken Top. We got an early start and there were some beautiful views of Mt Bachelor and the sun rising, then Broken Top peeking above a field of wild flowers.
We had fantastic head-on views of Broken Top on the way up and then the trail kind of loops around the side and boom! Glacial lake.
We stopped for lunch at the lake and then hiked up the ridge behind for an amazing view of the sisters and panoramic views back down to the lake. It looked like a few people had hiked up even farther on Broken Top and snowboarded down!
The hike back down had some more great views as well and we ended up doing 16 miles in total. A new record for me!
This past week we also did a really cool sunset dinner on Mt Bachelor. Thanks to our hosts Jim and Valerie for that suggestion and many others!
We’ll be sad to leave Bend but excited to head to Vancouver next weekend!
