The Oregon Coast

This long holiday weekend we headed to the coast! We started the party off with a visit to the Devil’s Punch Bowl and Otter Crest Beach. Lots of cool little tidal pools and beautiful views from the cliffs.

The next day we did a couple of really cool hikes. First to God’s Thumb. It was a scramble at the end to get to the top.

Then we did a quick stop for lunch at Pacific Beach.

Then on to Cape Lookout. The hike out to the point gives you a great view down the coast to Pacific Beach and all the way up to Manzanita. Really cool old growth forest on the way with lots of mud and scrambling over tree branches. This was my favorite hike of the weekend.

Our last day we visited Thor’s Well and Cape Perpetua. We saw a whale from atop the cliffs! It looks like a little spec in the photo but it was very cool to see in person.

We also had one more chance to meet up with Val and Riley for dinner in Newport before they headed back home to Colorado.

A really great 4th of July weekend!

  1. Hi Guys, Scenery is beautiful as usual. Hoping it wasn’t as hot there as inland. Kind of looks like some of the CA coast line. Very spectacular how the forest seems to go right to the ocean. Hows the food there? Nice people? I don’t know Val and Riley.
