The St Patrick’s Day parade this weekend went right down our block and our balcony was a prime viewing spot.

My favorite part was definitely the low rider cars and single bagpiper that closed out the parade. This weekend we also visited the Maritime Museum which included going aboard the USS Dolphin (deep sea diving submarine), the Berkeley (steam ferry), the Medea (steam yacht), the San Salvador (replica of the Spanish galleon that Cabrillo sailed to San Diego in the 1500s), the HMS Surprise (replica of an 18th century British naval ship), and the Star of India (the world’s oldest active sailing ship). The Star of India had many lives, first as a cargo ship to India and last as a fishing ship for Alaskan salmon. In between she hauled timber and made 21 full circumnavigations of the globe carrying emigrants from the UK to New Zealand and Australia. It is wild to think about what that five month trip must have been like.

Another great weekend in San Diego!
