Dinosaur National Monument and Glenwood Springs

We had a great last weekend on the Western Slope of Colorado. Our first stop was Dinosaur National Monument. Thousands of fossils have been extracted from the site and over 1,500 have been left embedded in the cliff face. Based on fossils of clams in the area, this was likely a river bed that dinosaur remains washed into and piled up.

The park also includes petroglyphs and pictographs created by the Fremont people that lived in the area about 1,000 years ago.

Then we were off to Denver! On the way we stopped by the Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range and saw a small group of four adult wild horses and one baby horse!

We also stopped in Glenwood Springs on the way and had a chance to check out Hanging Lake.

And now we’re in Denver!
