Goodbye, Great Falls

Today is our last day in Great Falls. The locals told us to keep it a secret but I’ll go ahead and say it, Great Falls is great!

One last thing that I was able to squeeze in was a visit to the Charles M. Russell museum in Great Falls. The cowboy artist’s log cabin studio still stands next to the museum which was built on the lot where he used to live. It was very cool to see how he might have worked day-to-day as well as illustrations from his personal letters and of course a ton of his paintings and sculptures.

He also spent a lot of time in Glacier National Park which he described as too beautiful to capture. It looks like he did a pretty good job to me though! The painting of elks above is set at Lake McDonald, where we’re headed next.

Sad to leave Great Falls but very excited to be heading to Glacier National Park and on to Superior, MT!

  1. It went by so fast and I’m not even there. Truly looks beautiful. He was quite an accomplished painter. What about the people there? Are you finding differences based on geography in your stays? Are all your addresses correct going forward. Enjoy Glacier. KOA cabins?
